Artist information:

Antonio De Simone was a marine painter from Naples who specialised in ship 'portraits' in the late 19th century. His output does not appear to have been very high and little is known about his life. His work, however, was of a fine quality and is often sold at the leading auction houses when it comes to market. The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London owns 10 paintings by De Simone, testament to the quality and importance of the artist.
