A very beautiful signed and dated 1926 oil on canvas portrait of Lady Eira Betty Sykes (nee Badcock) at 19 years old.
Lady Sykes was born Eira Betty Badcock in Lewisham, South London and travelled to India in the early 1930's. There she met her husband, Sir Francis Sykes, 9th Baronet of Basildon, and they married at Calcutta Church in 1934.
The work comes with various ephemera relating to Lady Sykes' time in India and during WW2 including; dance cards from Lucknow, headed paper from the Royal Hotel, Lucknow, property list, food store reserve list from 1941 and a hand drawn systematic life plan for a girl to womanhood.
Very good and clean condition for age, presented in a gilt frame and ready to hang.
