Geoffrey Chatten was born at Gorleston, Norfolk in 1938. Despite no formal art education, he developed a highly individual impressionistic style and became a full time professional artist in the 1980's.

His subjects are dominated by East Anglian landscapes and coastal scenes and many of his works fully capture all the drama and beauty of the vast and powerful skies for which the region is noted.

Still living and working in Norfolk, he became a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1995 and is a member of the Royal British Artists Society.
