A beautiful signed 1960's Belgian oil on board portrait of a lady wearing a blueb jumper against a striking orange background, by Noëlle Verheggen. Possibly a self portrait of the artist.
The work is of superb quality and in very good original condition. Presented in its original painted frame. Inscribed on a label verso.

Noëlle Verheggen was a Belgian painter of landscapes, still lifes, birds and flowers. She trainined at the Charleroi Academy with Jean Ransy. Some of her works demonstrate a surrealist tendency.
Verheggen exhibited at the Contact Gallery in Liège in 1958, 1959 and at the Albert I Gallery in Brussels in 1961 and 1964. Her work was acquired by the Belgian State, with works at the Charleroi Museum, the Gaumais Museum and the Puron Library.
