A beautiful 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a terrier wearing bells on it's collar and a blue bow. Very well executed with fine detail by the sought after French animal painter Euphemie Muraton. Housed in a fine period gilt frame

Born 11 April 1836, in Beaugency (Loiret); died 2 January 1914, in Macé, commune of St-Denis-sur-Loire

Euphémie Muraton became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1888. She received a third class medal at the Paris Salon of 1880 and a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889

She exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1868 to 1913 and took part in the French exhibition in Moscow and St Petersburg

She studied under Alphonse Muraton, whom she married. The couple had a son, the painter Louis Camille Muraton
