Description:

Fine signed and dated 1902 oil on board portrait of the celebrated wire haired terrier Alport Frost by A. Stevenson.  Excellent quality and condition portrait of the wire haired terrier born in 1901 who is recorded on several databases including the American Kennel Club. Presented in its original gilt frame.

A. Stevenson is thought to have been a Victorian photographer who specialised in dogs and in turn began to paint them. Not much is known about the artist, but we have owned several excellent dog portraits in both oil and watercolour by him.
