A very beautiful oil on board still life, depicting a coffee pot with coffee cup and a basket of bread, by Tom Elliott.

Excellent quality and unusual painting, with the artist reflected in the coffee pot. Signed with monogram and dated 2000 lower left and presented in a painted wood frame.

Lots of provenance on the reverse, including a letter from the artist to the original purchaser. The painting was exhibited three times after it was purchased with the permission of the owner - at the Bath Society of Artists, the Royal West Academy and Widcombe Studios.

Tom Elliott is a still life painter born in London. He moved to Bath, Somerset, where he was educated and attended the School of Art, later Bower Ashton College, Bristol. Early in his career he visited Italy to study Renaissance painting, followed by frequent trips to Amsterdam and Rotterdam to learn about local seventeenth-century pictures.

He showed at the RWA, in the Bath area, including the Contemporary Art Fair (with Boundary Gallery) and Anthony Hepworth Fine Art, and shared an exhibition at the Bishopsgate Institute. The Landmark Trust commissioned a Bath scene and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital holds his work.
