Neil Meacher RI, RCA, (1934 – 2010) grew up in the Kent town of Sandwich and studied at Canterbury College of Art, then later at the Royal College of Art in London.

During the 1950’s he was influenced by the Neo-Romantic Artists who were prominent in the post-war decade – in particular John Piper, John Minton and Edward Bawden.

Later, continental travels revealed French Cubist Painters and their creative thinking inspired more invention in his own work.

In 1980 Meacher was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour and in 1992 was a winner of the Windsor & Newton Anniversary Award at the RI Annual Exhibition.

His linear design and bright colour – chiefly in watercolour – are collected by those who enjoy the bold colour and subtle humour in his work.
