Paul Beauvais was born in 1966, the son of artist Walter John Beauvais (1942-1998), a well known English painter. He is the grandson of French artist Arnold Beauvais (1886-1984), one time president of The London Sketch Club, renowned commercial artist and poster designer and the great grandson of artist Charles Henri Beauvais (1862-1909), a well known French lithographer and poster designer.

Paul Beauvais’ earliest influences were the works of the impressionists. The palette of Claude Monet, the textures of Camille Pissarro and the overall genius of post-impressionist Paul Cezanne. Paul became fascinated with heavy impasto in oil painting and began to use it in all of his work.

After deciding to become a painter he had his first solo exhibition after only one year. He had a series of one man shows for the following few years until emigrating to Australia with his wife and three children. The last solo exhibition was sent to London from Australia in 2001. Paul decided to pursue other career paths in Australia whilst painting part time. He worked as a framemaker in Melbourne's only remaining traditional framemaker. He has learnt composition techniques, gilding and woodcarving.

His work is currently sold through Oakham Contemporary and often appears on the secondary market around the world. His works have sold at Christie's, Bonhams, Sotheby's , Menzies and many other auction houses.
